It’s happened to most of us guys. You’re at a party. You see this gorgeous girl from across the room. She’s perfect. And then the frantic inner dialogue begins in...

What God accomplished through Our Lady of Guadalupe’s appearance to St. Juan Diego in December 1531 stands as one of the most important interventions in human history. Prior to this event, the Aztecs were offering thousands of human sacrifices per year in central Mexico including child sacrifice (on top of pyramids such as the one I stood on yesterday). According to their beliefs, they had to offer human blood to their gods in order to keep the sun moving across the sky and preserve their very lives.
Nearly twelve years after the Spanish landed, there had been only limited success in converting the Aztecs and other tribes to the Catholic faith. By 1531, there were few converts. But Our Lady’s miraculous image on the tilma of the humble indigenous man St. Juan Diego spoke directly to the Aztec heart in their own visual language: Mary stood before the blazing sun, eclipsing it. To the Aztecs, the sun god demanded continuous sacrifice, and during solar eclipses thousands were killed in frantic rituals; by overshadowing the sun, Mary declared the end of that terror, for the true God did not require human blood.
Because the image was filled with symbols significant to the Aztec people, there were immediate conversions; from the color of her skin, they recognized her as mestiza, both Aztec and Spanish, and the fact that she stood on the crescent moon, the symbol of the Aztec moon god, indicated that she was more powerful than him. But her hands were clasped in prayer, head bowed down in reverence to the God of the Spaniards, signified by the emblem of the Cross near her neck. As a result of the image’s presence among the people, their hearts were converted to Christ and the practice of human sacrifice was abolished. Our Lady turned the Aztecs from despair to hope, from a conviction that the gods were against them to a conviction that God was so much for them that He became one of them in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
Within a decade of the apparition, historians estimate that eight to nine million indigenous people embraced Catholicism; a transformation unmatched in human history, peaceful, voluntary, and born from a Mother who spoke directly to their hearts.

I still get messages every day about how God is using my little boy to change lives. Heaven is real. The communion of saints is real. Everything Jesus said and did are real. The Church He established is real. Everything I raised my son to believe is real. All glory to God.
Micah’s miracles continue. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼

Every year on Pentecost Sunday one of Rome’s most breathtaking traditions takes place inside the Pantheon. Immediately following Holy Mass at noon, thousands of red rose petals are released through the great oculus high above the dome, cascading down upon the congregation below.
As the petals descend, the choir chants Veni Sancte Spiritus, one of the most beautiful hymns in Catholic tradition. The ritual symbolizes the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Blessed Mother and the Apostles at Pentecost. Many historians believe this stunning custom dates back to 607 AD, when the ancient pagan temple was consecrated as a Catholic church.
Come Holy Spirit, fill me, use me, help me to be like Christ and become the saint you call me to be. 🙏🏼

Grateful to God for good friends in my life! These people are among those who rallied around my family, prayed for us, watched our kids, coordinated meals, and shed tears with us when Micah was in the hospital. They’re each a gift to us and so many others. Love y’all. (There are many other friends who are not in the pic, but you know who you are!)

You don’t worship your grandma just like we don’t worship the Blessed Mother. We don’t treat the images and statues like they’re God— rather, they’re like family photos of our loved ones in Heaven. So why are Catholics sometimes seen kneeling and bowing to Mary? Because that’s what you do before a queen (Rev 12.1). While I’m sure your grandma is a sweet woman, Mary is the Mother of Jesus. There’s no comparison in the honor that Mary deserves. Were it not for her faith and obedience, we would not have been saved by Jesus, Who took on flesh in her womb because she said yes to God’s plans for salvation. It’s a pretty big deal. We can’t love Mary more than Jesus already did. And why do we ask Mary to pray for us? James 5.16, Rev 8.4, & John 2.3-11.

As of today, 75 couples who were having trouble conceiving, asked my son to pray for them before God’s throne, and now they’re all expecting.
Micah, I am astounded by you, bubba. I’m so incredibly thankful to Jesus to be your dadda. That’s why my heart hurts so much whenever I think about you. I have so much love for you that needs to go somewhere… So it makes its way out through my tears and through sharing all the amazing ways you’re helping people from Heaven. You and me are on mission together till we’re fully reunited.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” John 12.24

It’s a very rare occurrence when I’m able to bring my family with me on mission. But when I’m able to, I love it!
@sjnaustin had me speak about the hunger we all have for Jesus and how my son, Micah (who entered into eternal life last Dec), has been proclaiming to the world how real Heaven is.
While the pain of our loss is real, Jesus has never abandoned us. In His goodness, He has allowed Micah to provide us with air support and so many signs of his pure, childlike love. I know that our pain has purpose in purifying us for Heaven, and leading many back to Christ. Please continue to pray for us as we walk this valley of tears, trusting in God’s plan, which is far greater than our human understanding. We pray for you too.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24.15
Holy Family, pray for us.
St. Michael, pray for us.
Mighty Micah, pray for us.

There’s so much division in Christianity, confusion over scripture, and people who haven’t encountered Jesus yet— because His followers keep seeing one another as the enemy and not family. We’re all called to be the answer to Jesus’ prayer that they may be one!
Don’t miss @thattheymaybeonefilm in theaters only May 19 & 20!
