I am excited to share that I will be walking in the footsteps of Blessed Stanley Rother soon on a mission trip with Cross Catholic Outreach. This incredible priest and martyr served the people of Santiago Atitlan faithfully for over a decade before he laid down his life for them. You can see his story play out on the big screen in “American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story” on August 25and 26 nationwide in English, narrated by Martin Sheen, and on August 27 in Spanish, narrated by Fr. Rafael Capó. And, follow along as the team at Cross Catholic Outreach and I visit Guatemala very soon! Blessed Stanley Rother, pray for us! He has been there for my family and me in the best and worst moments of our lives, reminding us of God’s steadfast presence and love. “Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” 1 Cor 4.15

We were blessed to have my friend, @father_david_michael , come and visit yesterday! He offered my family Holy Mass, which is the greatest gift we could ever receive. During the liturgy, the first reading was from the prophet Micah, which brought tears to our eyes, as we knew our son was reminding us of his closeness and prayers. Our dining room table has become an altar many times now, which is a beautiful reminder that as a family (domestic church) we’re called to love, offer sacrifices, forgive, and look towards Heaven daily, like Jesus did. Afterwards, Fr. David played some smash bros with my son, and helped me to chase down a wasp (with a salt 🔫😆) that was stressing us out. If you’re wondering why our 🎄is still up, it was the last thing that Micah helped set up before he passed away, so we’re not quite ready to take it down. Since the word Christmas comes from "Christ's Mass", this means that every Mass, every single day of the year, is Christmas in the deepest sense. So there. The last clip is from a concert our family attended where Fr. was performing. Micah was photobombing family pictures, and as you can see he was a big fan of Fr. David. It’s beautiful to think that now Micah can bless his ministry with prayers in a way that none of us can. We’re grateful for his friendship and the gift of his priesthood.
